about

I read a book (by Graham Greene?) that said birds warn of approaching death. If you see them hovering overhead, it's because they're waiting for your carcass. So that’s what the birds are saying, if you ask. That being said, I'm a bird enthusiast! They arrive from another = world. In my mind I always imagined the bird kingdom in a Rubert the Bear book from my childhood—great psychedelic nightmare stuff, look it up! What else? This was our first ever indulgence in mellotron. Plus real timpani and guiro and triangle played by Robbie.

lyrics

Beautiful and strange up in the blue
Pointing out some way for me and you
Shadows changing patterns
Forming secret words
What can they be saying?
(Ask the birds)

I am winding down towards my fate
I will disappear without a trace
Shadows changing patterns
Forming secret words
What can they be saying?
(Ask the birds)

The High Dials Montréal, Québec

Their most recent album “Primitive Feelings” is a predatory summer mix of lo-fi grooves, acid rock guitars and razor-sharp humour. ... more
