O Blue Day 00:37
O Blue Day, You seem to say The way is without limitations, If I could but recognise you There inside my own reflection
2.
Heaven help you If you believe you’ll be staying When the others leave The life you live and claim to own Ain’t your possession, it’s yours on loan There’s no sleight of hand, No miraculous stunt Even Lazarus only came back once I don’t like your odds I don’t like your odds But life is good In the mansion you have made Buying and selling yourself In the slave trade But the walls that hold it together Are paper thin When the wind picks up It just might blow them in Look at the figures, Examine the facts, Look at the way that the odds are stacked I don’t see a lot In the cards you’ve got But I see the future And the future don’t look so good Yeah, I see the future And the future don’t look so good

Jaws Of Life 02:38
Please, I’m caught in a squeeze I could use some expertise And/or some resuscitation Teach me, Extend an arm and reach me, Lecture and speech me, Put some words of wisdom together I don’t expect To save my neck Unless someone arrives To pull me out of this wreck alive And I wanna be rescued By your jaws of life Life is a gas Until you crash And I need assistance I need your jaws of life Listen, I know that my collision Ends a chain of decisions Stretching back to the dawn of creation And pain Follows pleasure in the game, So I should get up again, Dust myself off like Frank Sinatra I don’t expect To save my neck Unless someone arrives To pull me out of this wreck alive I wanna be rescued By your jaws of life Life, it’s a gas Until you crash And I need assistance I need your jaws of life

When I was 16, I joined the circus For ten years of mandatory national service I walked the tightrope to please them all (But they secretly hoped I’d fall) Next, I was offered a lifetime sentence Of bringing home bread for my descendents I did hard time pulling on their plough And milking the sacred cow But I never really learned their trade Never learned to use the tools they made Never read their instructions For making lemonade when life gives you hand grenades I get by with distractions, honey Lord knows, you look distracted, too So next time I need a little distraction, honey I’ll come looking for you I carried the world upon my back Like a good megalomaniac During the years I was employed Holding us over the void They’re handing out medals to the bravest soldiers After the war, when you’re much older, As long as you follow each and every command Out into no-man’s land But this place has never really felt quite right I think I missed my connecting flight Somewhere I’ve got friends Waiting for me at arrivals on Proxima B I get by with distractions, baby Lord knows, you look distracted, too So next time I’m looking for distraction, honey I’ll come looking for you
5.
You’re making plans to save the world And the plans begin with me You’re gonna make a D-Day landing Like I am your Normandy But how can you save my world When you’re still fighting World War You? How can you change me, honey? There’s a bird and a snake At either end of every tree We’ve all got our own battles, baby And you bit more than you can chew With World War You Everyone else is a problem you would solve You wanna baptize every infant To absolve yourself But from every angle you’re reflected in the view This old world is a broken mirror Have a look, you’ll see it, too See World War You How can you save the world When you’re fighting World War You?

All dolled up for the discotheque That some call civilization Feel them breathing down your neck Demanding your attention Primitive Primitive feelings Primitive Primitive feelings Just another passenger on The crowded rock we’re sharing With a prehistoric backpack on, The baggage we’re all wearing Primitive Primitive feelings Primitive Primitive feelings Moving through the urban landscape, All that steel and concrete forest, Pretending you don’t feel at all Like a drugged up brontosaurus Primitive Primitive feelings I never want it to happen, Could something happen to me? Nightmares, fancies and fantasies, The hidden movement of the human sea Rattling the cage of your cultured mind Feeding off the energies you decline Doing just fine despite neglect Interrupting when you least expect it Whispering between your chosen words Gathering its strength in the crowded herd Primitive

City Of Gold 02:46
I’ve left the world I know To follow a distant glow Along I go to treasures untold Oh, stranger can you show The way that I must go? I’m lost and so Perhaps you know A path to the old City of Gold Sigo buscando La via secreto El camino que necessito Para llegar a ese pueblo Lei El Carnero Y sigo buscando El camino secreto Para llegar a ese pueblo

about

Primitive Feelings (Hook & Prayer/Ray-On) was released in two parts digitally, and is available as a single vinyl LP.

A summery mix of soulful, druggy beats and classic indie, Part 1 recalls the lo-fi dance vibes of Cornershop and Primal Scream, with a touch of Mark Ronson pop.

Following a Floyd-esque intro, the tone is set with a heavy Latin-soul groove. Things get funkier from there, culminating in the strange mash-up of rhythms and hooks that is the title track.

"The Montreal group here emphasizes the use of killer beats and slick licks, while conjuring the trippier side of people like Beck, Joel Gion and Apples in Stereo." Record Crates United

about

The High Dials Montréal, Québec

The High Dials are an indie pop band from Montreal.
While their melodic sensibility, harmonies and jangling guitars owe an obvious debt to the 60s and power pop groups, they also draw upon shoegaze, new wave and folk sounds to create rich and varied albums. Their most recent album “Primitive Feelings” is a predatory summer mix of lo-fi grooves, acid rock guitars and razor-sharp humour. ... more
